2018 Community Award Tickets Now on Sale and Ceremony Line-Up Announced
Tickets for the Community Awards are on sale now, priced at £10 per person, and are available by contacting the Guernsey Community Foundation on 748056 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Tickets will be sold on a first come, first served basis.
As well as releasing tickets for sale, the Foundation is pleased to announce that a third sector trailblazer and one of the Island’s most talented singer-songwriters will provide the entertainment at this year’s Community Awards.
Steve Byrne, Manager of the GSPCA, will be the main speaker, while Kiya Ashton, an exciting new talent, will give a special performance.
Steve will address guests at the Guernsey Community Foundation’s annual awards event on the 13th of November.
He will focus on the important and evolving role of the local voluntary sector, and how charities should move with the times to keep pace with the needs of the community. He will talk candidly about how he has broadened the GSPCA’s appeal by introducing new strategic objectives linked to education and emotional wellbeing.
Community Foundation Chief Executive Jim Roberts said: "In 2016, Steve accepted our Charity of the Year award on behalf of the GSPCA. This year, we're delighted to have him back in a different capacity. As our key speaker, Steve will draw upon his years of experience in the charitable sector and his love for innovation to deliver a speech that will be insightful, thought-provoking, and, above all, entertaining."
The Foundation is also pleased to announce that local musician Kiya Ashton will perform at this year’s Awards.
“Kiya was shortlisted for the Youth Award in 2015,” said Mr Roberts, “and has since become a staple of the Island’s music scene. A singer and musician of rare talent, she’s won acclaim for her unique brand of acoustic folk and we’re delighted that she’s agreed to perform.”
Afternoon tea will be served by the charity Les Cotils, a shortlisted contender for last year’s Charity of the Year award.
