Community Awards 2018 Nominations now open!
Community Awards 2018 – Nominations Now Open
We are pleased to announce the opening of nominations for the 2018 Community Awards. Nominations open on Wednesday 15th August and close on 12th September.
The Awards celebrate local charities, organisations, groups, individuals and businesses who work tirelessly to raise money, provide services and undertake community projects for the benefit of others across the Bailiwick.
Community Foundation Chief Executive Jim Roberts said: “This year we’re hoping to receive a record number of nominations to reflect the huge amount of fantastic work being done across the charitable sector – not just by charitable organisations and individuals, but by businesses serious about corporate social responsibility.”
Nominations are invited in respect of seven categories:
Charity of the Year – sponsored by State Street
Fundraising Team of the Year – sponsored by Cazenove Capital Management
Outstanding Individual Achievement – sponsored by PwC Channel Islands
Innovation Award – sponsored by Specsavers
Organising Committee of the Year – sponsored by RG Falla
CSR Award – sponsored by RBC Wealth Management
Youth Award (ages 11 to 25) – sponsored by Guernsey Electricity.
Past awards have celebrated charitable work in fields as diverse as mental health, the environment and animal welfare.
“You can nominate others for an award, but you can also nominate yourself,” said Mr Roberts. “If you’re a charity, for example, and you’re proud of what you’ve achieved over the last 12 months, why not put yourself forward? We want to hear about your success.”
Last year, Citizens Advice Guernsey won the prestigious Charity of the Year Award, having been shortlisted alongside the Guernsey Employment Trust and Les Cotils. The judges were impressed by the dedication shown by the volunteers and trained advisors, and by the volume of work being carried out.
Once the nominations period closes, an independent Judges Panel will draw up a longlist, then a shortlist, of nominees. Those on the shortlist will be invited to November’s Community Awards, which will take place at St James on Tuesday 13th.
Nomination forms and submission guidelines can be found at www.foundation.gg . Hard copies can be requested by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org, or by calling Sadie Siviter de Paucar on 748056. Sadie is also available to help with the nomination process.
