Date Announced For The Community Awards

The Guernsey Community Foundation’s annual Community Awards are returning to St James on Thursday 3rd November.

The Community Awards celebrate the local charities, organisations, groups, individuals and businesses who work tirelessly to raise money and embark on community projects for the benefit of others, across the Bailiwick and further afield.

The event is hosted by the Guernsey Community Foundation along with principle sponsor State Street Global Services. Awards are presented across seven categories:

  • Charity of the Year – sponsored by State Street Global Services
  • Fundraising Team of the Year – sponsored by Cazenove Capital Management
  • Outstanding Individual Achievement – sponsored by KPMG Channel Islands Limited
  • Overseas Award – sponsored by Specsavers
  • Organising Committee of the Year – sponsored by RG Falla
  • CSR Award – sponsored by RBC Wealth Management
  • Youth Award – sponsored by Guernsey Electricity

Nominations for this year’s Awards will be opening in August.

Last year, Caritas Community Charitable Trust won the prestigious Charity of the Year Award. They were shortlisted alongside Liberate and the Bailiwick of Guernsey Victim Support and Witness Service. Caritas impressed the judges with the outstanding service it provides to many of the island’s most vulnerable people. Testimonies show that the Café, its volunteers and other initiatives make a huge difference to many vulnerable people’s lives and provides them with confidence, encouragement and security as they re-integrate into society and get their lives back together.

Reverend Richard Bellinger, Caritas Founder, said:

“Winning the prestigious Award for Charity of the Year has had a huge impact on the charity. It has given us great confidence in the vital work we are doing for our community; it has given us publicity and increased awareness of our work. This will have a positive impact on our fundraising initiative to buy a residential property which is our next project.”

Nominations for the 2016 Community Awards will be opening next month. Further information will be announced in due course. Details about the event itself and all of last year’s winners can be found at
