Guest speaker for Community Awards 2019 Announced
The Foundation is pleased to announce that Matt Hyde, Chief Executive of the Scoutswill be the guest speaker at this year’s Community Awards.
Formerly Chief Executive of the National Union of Students, Matt has undertaken a number of leadership roles in the charity sector. As Chief Executive of the Scouts, the UK’s largest coeducational youth movement, he has overseen a period of record membership growth since 2013, successfully managed a major rebranding project, and spearheaded work to support the growth of scouting in economically deprived areas.
As a committed volunteer, Matt is currently a trustee of Step Up To Serve, an organisation which encourages youth volunteering, for which he has attracted support and investment to grow youth social action. He holds a number of other positions of responsibility in the charitable sector, including serving as a trustee of Comic Relief, a patron of UNLOCK (a charity supporting people with criminal convictions), and he was previously Vice Chair of the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO). He was awarded an Honorary Fellowship from Queen Mary University of London in 2012.
Matt spoke of his excitement about speaking at the 2019 Community Awards:

It’s always a delight to visit this beautiful island and it’s a particular pleasure to be able to share in the celebrations of some truly amazing people who do so much for others.’

The 2019 Community Awards will be held in St James’s on Tuesday 12th November. Tickets will be made available in the coming weeks, following the compilation of the final shortlist of 2019 nominees.
