Sarah joins the Community Foundation team

Sarah Duguid has joined the Guernsey Community Foundation, taking on the role of Projects & Communications Manager from Laurel Le Tocq who leaves in August to have a baby.

Sarah grew up in Guernsey and attended Ladies’ College from the age of 11 through to 18. Sarah left Guernsey in 1992 to attend the University of the West of England in Bristol to study Modern Languages and Information Systems.

Sarah then studied for the CIM in Marketing at UWE whilst working full time. She spent time working as a campaign manager for various marketing agencies before moving to Edinburgh in 2001 to combine her love of walking and working.

Sarah worked in Scotland for 12 years at the City of Edinburgh Council. She was the Communications Officer for various projects, including the Fostering and Adoption campaign. Sarah and her team won both national and local awards for their success in increasing the number of Foster Carers in the area.

Sarah was actively involved in the Parent Council in for Dunbar Primary School which is the largest Primary School in the UK. Sarah sat on the Fundraising Committee before taking on the position of Chair of that committee, leading the fundraising projects for the school. Sarah, and a voluntary team, set up Dunbar SciFest in 2010 which engages local children and their families in science.

Sarah and her family returned to Guernsey in January 2014. Since then, she has been working for the Youth Commission, covering the Duke of Edinburgh Award Manager’s role whilst she has been on Maternity Leave.
