Save the date! Community Awards set to return in November
The Guernsey Community Foundation’s annual Community Awards are returning to St James on Wednesday 4th November.
The Community Awards celebrate the local charities, organisations, groups, individuals and businesses who work tirelessly to raise money and embark on community projects for the benefit of others, across the Bailiwick and further afield.
The event is hosted by the Guernsey Community Foundation along with principle sponsor State Street Global Services. Achievements are recognised across seven categories:
Charity of the Year – sponsored by State Street Global Services
Fundraising Team of the Year – sponsored by Cazenove Capital Management
Outstanding Individual Achievement – sponsored by KPMG Channel Islands Limited
Overseas Award – sponsored by Specsavers
Organising Committee of the Year – sponsored by RG Falla
CSR Award – sponsored by RBC Wealth Management
Youth Award – sponsored by Guernsey Electricity
Last year, Young People Guernsey - The Hub won the prestigious Charity of the Year Award. They were shortlisted alongside Autism Guernsey and Guernsey Mind. Young People Guernsey was chosen for the range of services offered by the HUB and the numbers of young people that it supports. These have all been developed professionally in the short time since its launch.
Jane St Pier, Chair of Young People Guernsey said:
‘Winning this award was a very special moment for us. It pays tribute to the professionalism and compassion of everyone who makes up the YPG/HUB team: our Barnardo's staff and volunteers, the YPG charity and the generous Guernsey community whose generosity allows The HUB to flourish. It also recognises the courage of the young people that The HUB supports. We know that for them to ask for our help is a sign of strength rather than weakness. The Community Awards have rightly secured a very credible reputation and so the profile we received as winners – both on the night of the awards and subsequently - has been invaluable in raising our profile with young people, their families and potential supporters. We are extremely grateful to the Guernsey Community Foundation for giving us both the award and the opportunities it has afforded us.’
Nominations for the 2015 Community Awards will be opening next month. Further information will be announced in due course. Details about the event itself and all of last year’s winners can be found at www.communityawards.gg
