In May 2025, the Foundation published the Quality of Life Report 2025 – the first study of its kind, exploring what living in Guernsey is really like.
Marking the Foundation’s 15 year anniversary, the report drew together data sources, interviews with charities, and the results of an extensive community-wide survey, to help to identify Islanders’ needs—particularly those that often go unseen or unheard.
Findings and Observations
The report’s findings are presented as 13 Observations, acknowledging that while many live a decent life in Guernsey, quality of life for some is low in key areas.
Difficulties with health and healthcare, loneliness, stress, work-life-balance, housing, and dissatisfaction with services are clearly affecting Islanders, especially those who struggle financially.
The report also highlighted how on the positive side, older people are generally living well, but their young counterparts are suffering.
It also reflected community sentiment and first-hand accounts of how the difficulties that Islanders are facing – notably with finances and housing – are driving people away.
Foundation Actions
In July 2025, the Foundation brought together representatives of more than 20 charities and agencies to discuss the report’s findings and how they see quality of life issues impacting their daily work.
Insights gained from this event, and from other relationships the Foundation has developed, have led to projects and initiatives that respond to problems highlighted.
We will announce details of these as they are finalised.
